[edit] Biography
Julianne Hough was born in 1988, one of five children to an LDS (Mormon) family in Utah. She has a predisposition to dancing -- all four of her grandparents were dancers, and her parents met while on a ballroom dancing team at a college in Idaho. Hough has been dancing since she was a child, often partnered with her brother Derek Hough, who is three years older. She started her formal dance training at Center Stage Performing Arts in Orem, Utah, dancing with Josh Murillo in Latin Ballroom, and was dancing competitively at age 9. However, a year later, her parents divorced, and she and her brother were sent to London, England, to study dance and live with their coaches, world Latin Dance Champions Corky Ballas and Shirley Ballas, who raised the Hough children along with their own son Mark Ballas Jr. Hough was later sent to train at Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts. She became the youngest and only American to gain the titles of Junior Blackpool World Latin Champion and International Youth Champion. Hough was also trained in singing.
At age 15, Hough returned to her hometown in Utah. After graduating from Alta High School, she relocated to Los Angeles, California in the hopes of building her singing, acting and dancing career. She was an assistant choreographer on Gwen Stefani's "Wind It Up" music video.
The Hough siblings and Ballas had their own pop music trio called "2B1G(2 Boys 1 Girl)".[2]
[edit] Television appearances
Hough appeared in the fourth season of Dancing with the Stars, a televised ballroom dance competition. In her first year, she won with her partner, Olympic gold medal-winning speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno, making Hough the youngest professional dancer both to compete, and to win on the program. She is also the third professional (Alec Mazo and Cheryl Burke were the first two) to win a Dancing with the Stars championship in his/her first season with the show. On November 27, 2007 Hough and her partner, two-time Indianapolis 500 champion Hélio Castroneves, were announced as the winners of Season 5. She now is the second professional dancer (first being Cheryl Burke) to win 2 seasons of Dancing with the Stars (US TV series) in a row, first being with Apolo Anton Ohno and second being with Hélio Castroneves.
She also made guest appearances on other shows such as Show Me the Money, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and The View.

Hough, 19, and her partner, two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves, were named the winners of the smash-hit reality show during a two-hour finale on ABC (KTVX Channel 4) Tuesday night. They beat out the dancing team of Melanie Brown (Scary Spice) and Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
Third finalist, Marie Osmond, 48, the other Utahn who graced the TV stage during this season and who faced personal challenges along the way - including the death of her father - was booted from the competition earlier in the night when she and partner Jonathan Roberts received the lowest viewer votes. The winner was determined by a combination of public votes and judges' scores.
"The one thing I've enjoyed the most about this show is that it gave me something that I knew was solid through all of the chaos, something that I can count on," Osmond said in the finale. "It's been one of the best experiences of my life."
For a television series that has had Utah performers since the beginning (Utah County dancers Ashly Del Grosso and Louis van Amstel appeared in the first season in 2005, and Draper dancer Andrea Hale appeared in the second), the latest - and most unpredictable - season was again littered with Beehive ballroom performers.

In addition to Osmond and Hough, Julianne's older brother, Derek Hough, 22, appeared on the show for the first time as the partner for actress Jennie Garth. The Houghs grew up in Park City and Draper.
"It was more grueling this season because last season, people didn't know who I was," Julianne Hough told The Salt Lake Tribune just before Tuesday's rehearsal. "This season, Helio was great, and on top of the training hours, we were doing a lot more press and a lot less sleep."
But the Utahn who had the most volatile ride this season was Osmond. In the span of the three-month run on "Dancing," she fainted on stage on live television (a happening that became a YouTube sensation), lost her father George Osmond on Nov. 6, forcing her to miss an episode the week of his funeral, and she placed her 16-year-old son Michael in a rehabilitation center for an undisclosed problem. She also announced earlier this year that she was divorcing her second husband, Brian Blosil.
To add insult to injury, the show's judges were not exactly kind to her.
Bruno Tonioli called her freestyle dance in Monday's show "the loopiest thing I've ever seen."
"It defies criticism," he sniped. "It's like the Baby Jane and the 'Bride of Chucky.' It's not a dance, it's a turn."
"Marie has been one of the most competitive people here," Julianne Hough said, defending Osmond. "She's stepped out of her realm and is going through hard times. But she told us her dad won "Dancing with the Stars", has Helio Castroneves now won over Julianne Hough? There are all kinds of whispers that the sexy race car driver is now dating the adorable nineteen year old two time winner of the ABC reality TV show. Yes you read that correctly, she is only 19 years old. Helio is 32 years old. Hough was engaged to Zach Wilson and originally planned to marry on August 8, 2007 but has postponed her marriage.

Zach Wilson since has listed his profile as single on his MySpace site. She has also been romantically linked with Kevin Connolly of Entourage fame, who recently gave her a diamond ring and admitted that he is "actively pursuing" Julianne, although Julianne denies a romantic relationship.

Now it is being reported that Helio has postponed his wedding as well. On last night's finale Helio kissed Julianne and that of course has sparked whispers that the two are dating. Already this year Sabrina Bryan and her dancing partner Mark Ballas have admitted to a romantic relationship. Is this another love connection for DWTS? Did that cause the break up of his romance with Aliette Vazquez?
OK! Magazine has this online: "Rumors are now circulating that a romance, or even just a flirtation, with the 19-year-old Julianne might have been the final straw in the split. Tuesday night, Helio planted a big, wet one on the bubbly blonde, and all season long, Ali never stopped by the DWTS set to watch her beau dance — though Helio defended her absence to OK! by saying it would be "bad luck" for her to come and jinx his and Julianne's
